Whew - a little late posting today, but I wanted to get three posts scheduled for this weekend. Keith and I are heading out to work as kitchen staff at our church Couples Camp. I figured - kill two birds with one stone. Get a weekend away with the hubby, and help out too. Should be tons of fun!
Today I am sharing my project from this past week. Do you save your paper scraps?
Do you save paper scraps until they are overflowing your scrap basket? Keep in mind, my two scrap baskets normally look like this:
The one on the left for cardstock (these scraps tend to stay in control), the one on the right for patterned paper (the problem child).
Let's check out that basket again.
So, I brought out the cutter and a cute basket I had hanging around - "prepare to be vanquished, paper scraps".
After a good solid hour of trimming, I reduced that horrid pile into this lovely 6 X 6 basket of inspiration:
Oh my goodness. Seriously? That is way too cute. I was 100% inspired by my friend, Betsy Veldman. She trimmed all her paper scraps into 6 X 6 and organized them like THIS.
Okay, I'm guessing she had even MORE scraps than I do. Hee, hee. But, this one basket totally works for me. I sorted my papers into these categories: White, Black, Blues/Greens, Yellow, and Reds/Pinks. Imagine that - no category for purple. Guess that tells you how much purple I use. Ha.
Here's a shot where you can see the color values. Your categories might be totally different. I puts my browns into the closest thing they matched; in other words, really dark browns went into the Black section, lighter caramel colors went into Yellow.
So, are you inspired to tackle your scraps? I did keep a few longer strips in my original scrap basket. I might need those for scrapbook pages. But honestly? As a card maker, 6 X 6 works perfectly for me.
Hey, you all! Have a great weekend. I have a couple cards to share Saturday & Sunday, so stay tuned.
Later.

Terrific idea! I have just the basket waiting for a purpose. Looks like it found one. Have a great weekend at camp!

I totally love this system of sorting; I have wanted to sort out my scraps ever since I saw Betsy's system too! I just haven't done it yet. :P

I have a similar system and use these scraps a lot more effectively than trying to dig through a basket/box.
